Marna Seltzer,
Managing Director
Marna Seltzer graduated from Boston University in 1988 with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in music history/theory and a minor in
Italian language. Following graduation, she worked for a season
as the personal manager of violinist Itzhak Perlman. In 1989,
she began work at Herbert Barrett Management as a Sales Representative
with responsibility for booking concerts for a roster of over
one hundred musicians, including soloists, conductors, singers,
and chamber ensembles. Four years later Ms. Seltzer was hired
by The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center to revitalize their
touring program. In that role, she increased the number of tour
concerts from five to over fifty each season. In 1995 she was
promoted to a newly-created position of Artistic Administrator
and Director of Touring. In that role, she worked directly with
the Artistic Director and Executive Director in the conceptualization
and formulation of the organizations artistic plans, serving
as the primary liaison to the artistic and business communities.
In April 1998, she became Director of The University of Chicago
Presents, one of Chicagos oldest and most distinguished
series of concerts. In that capacity, she managed the artistic
direction, business management, fundraising, office administration
and long-term planning for the organization. In 2006, she left
the University of Chicago to relocate to New Haven, Connecticut
where her husband is currently studying architecture at Yale University.
Shortly after moving to New Haven, Marna started Seltzer Arts
Consulting and has been working as a consultant on several arts-related
projects and taking care of her one-year-old daughter Penelope.
