A member of the Mannes Trio, Thomas Sauer collaborates frequently with violinist Midori, violist Misha Amory, and cellist Colin Carr. Recent appearances include solo recitals at St. John’s College, Oxford and the Garden City Chamber Music Society; recitals with Colin Carr at the Holywell Music Room, Oxford and the Wolf Trap Center; performances at the Marlboro, Portland, Seattle, El Paso Pro Musica, and Four Seasons festivals; and numerous concerts with the Brentano String Quartet. His recording with Misha Amory of two Hindemith viola sonatas is available on the Musical Heritage Society label and his solo recording of five Haydn sonatas on MSR Classics. In recent seasons, Mr. Sauer has premiered works by Robert Cuckson, Sebastian Currier, Keith Fitch, and Donald Martino. A member of the piano faculty of the Mannes College and the music faculty at Vassar College, Mr. Sauer is the founder and director of the Mannes Beethoven Institute and co-artistic director of Chamber Music Quad Cities, a festival based in his hometown of Davenport, Iowa.
