Jo-Ann Sternberg

Jo-Ann Sternberg lives a varied musical life in New York; she
is a member of the Riverside Symphony, the Greenleaf Chamber Players
and Sequitur, and performs regularly with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra,
St. Luke's Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln
Center, Musicians from Marlboro and New York Philomusica. Her
summer festivals have included Marlboro, Tanglewood and Schleswig-Holstein.
Ms. Sternberg maintains an active teaching studio, regularly working
with Juilliard's Pre-College Division and serving on the faculty
at Western Connecticut State University. After receiving a B.A.
in English from Tufts University and a B.M. in Clarinet Performance
from the New England Conservatory, Ms. Sternberg continued her
studies at Yale University with David Shifrin and at the Julliard
School with Charles Neidich, receiving an M.M. from Juilliard
in 1991. In addition to several recordings with Orpheus for Deutsch-Grammophon,
Ms. Sternberg's discography includes recordings on the Nonesuch,
Troy, CRI, Archetype and St. Cyprien labels. The 2004 season marks
Ms. Sternberg's return to performing after an 18-month hiatus
devoted to her young children Joshua and Rebecca.
