announcing our 2009 FESTIVAL
AUGUST 11, 14, 18, 21
BORDERS. CONFLICT. MUSIC.
Join us in our 15th season as we experience music’s unique power
to explore, echo and transcend adversity.
Every year since 1995 the Salt Bay Chamberfest
in Damariscotta, Maine has brought some of the
finest musicians in the world to a small barn
on the grounds of the former Round Top Center
for the Arts. Musicians from all over the world
come to Damariscotta to join Artistic Director
and cellist, Wilhelmina Smith. The result is
two weeks of exhilarating chamber music.
This year’s festival will focus on how music born in regions of conflict defines and often celebrates our common humanity. Our concerts explore the music of ninteenth-century Western Europe, Eastern Europe during the Iron Curtain era, America in the sixties, and the Middle East currently. We are excited to introduce new performers to audiences in Damariscotta, including pianist Ignat Solzhenitsyn, the Lockwood-Sheronick duo, and Israeli composer Tamar Muskal, as well as welcoming back our outstanding regular SBC musicians including violinists Jennifer Koh and Soovin Kim, pianist Benjamin Hochman, clarinetist Burt Hara, and the Brentano String Quartet.
We hope you will join us for
our 2009 festival, which will take place
on August 11, 14, 18, 21, 2009. For more
